Ryan O'Connor murder trial live updates - jury start their deliberations

Jurors in the trial of five men accused of murdering a dad for his Gucci bag have begun their deliberations..

Ryan O’Connor was walking through the Alway area of Newport on June 10 last year when he was attacked, stabbed and then robbed of his designer bag.

Newport Crown Court has heard that as dad Mr O’Connor lay dying, his attackers mocked him as they left the scene in a stolen Ford Fiesta -which was forced off the road 45 minutes later following a police chase.

The prosecution says Mr O'Connor was seemingly targeted at random by five men - who had travelled from Cardiff to Newport "looking for someone to rob" and gone armed with knives as well as balaclavas.

Lewis Aquilina, 20, of Canton Court, Riverside, Cardiff; Elliott Fiteni, 20, of no fixed abode; Kyle Raisis, 18, of Bartley Wilson Way, Canton, Cardiff; Ethan Strickland, 19, of Clos Briallen, Caerau; and 18-year-old Joseph Jeremy, of no fixed abode, have pleaded not guilty to murder, manslaughter, and robbery of a Gucci bag.
