Ryan Nyambe serves Blackburn Rovers triple blow but Jon Dahl Tomasson came prepared

Jon Dahl Tomasson arrived at Blackburn Rovers knowing he may well see first-team regulars soon walk out the door, but the smile on his face couldn't be wiped off.

The Dane had accepted the fact that big names within the Rovers squad faced uncertain futures, and spoke calmly on the contract situation at Ewood Park. Joe Rothwell had already gone, Darragh Lenihan had agreed to sign for Middlesbrough and now Ryan Nyambe - as per reports on Friday morning - will leave after rejecting a new contract.

It is far from the dream scenario, for a manager just a couple of weeks into a new job, working in a different country. And yet you feel Tomasson was one hundred per cent ready for this. Would he be here if not? There was certainly no grumbling on his part one bit, when he was unveiled to the press last week.

"To be honest, I think there are already a couple of players who went away on frees," he said in his first interview with local media. "In a window, there will always be players coming and going - we just have to pick up the right ones and the recruitment team is working extremely hard on that. We have a meeting already regarding that, so it's about doing the right things at the right moment."

It's not easy to see any key player walk away, never mind three. Ben Brereton Diaz would make it four. Jan Paul van Hecke, Reda Khadra and Bradley Johnson are no longer on board either. That's possibly seven. This summer has to see a huge squad overturn and at present, Rovers' young squad is in need of some help. Ethan Walker is the only addition so far, but time is fortunately still on Blackburn's side.
