Ryan Kent Rangers transfer latest as Leeds United 'ready to reignite' interest amid surprise Tottenham deal
Leeds United could reignite their interest in Ryan Kent over the final days of the transfer window, according to a report.
The Rangers winger has been a long-term target at Elland Road, with the Premier League club attempting to sign him under previous boss Marcelo Bielsa. Current manager Jesse Marsch may look to recruit an attacker before the deadline as Dan James continues to be linked with a surprise move to Tottenham Hotspur.
And the Daily Mail say Kent, who has entered the final year of his Rangers contract, could again cross Leeds ' radar as the deadline looms. Their interest in the 25-year-old former Liverpool youth dates back to 2020 and may be revived amid the possibility of capitalising on Kent's contract situation. Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst revealed earlier this summer that the club had opened renewal talks with the player, who joined in a £7m deadline day deal from Liverpool in 2019.
The manager, speaking in July, insisted he was optimistic both Kent and Alfredo Morelos were open to signing new contracts, although negotiations with the latter have now been placed on hold. Van Bronckhorst said: “We know the quality both Morelos and Kent bring to the team. They have been part of the squad for many years now. Ryan’s qualities are on a high level. Talks with him to extend his contrast are also happening at the moment. It’s the same with Alfredo.
“Hopefully they will sign new contracts that will keep them at Ibrox for longer than this season. Both of them love being at this club. They are important players who are loved by everyone involved in the squad and the fans.
“They are more than open to extending. Hopefully we’ll come to a deal. I’m very happy with both, they bring quality to this squad
