Ryan Jack told Rangers and Scotland ARE united over injury verdict as he gets Euro 2024 call defence

Scotland assistant John Carver insists Ryan Jack deserves to be in the squad for Euro 2024.

The 32-year-old was a surprise inclusion in Steve Clarke’s 28-man provisional squad for the tournament after an injury-hit campaign for Rangers - with Jack failing to make a first-team appearance for the Ibrox side since March. He returned to Philippe Clement’s squad on the final day of the Premiership season and the Scottish Cup Final - but failed to make if off the bench in either game.

While Scotland boss Clarke insisted that Jack was fit, Belgian Clement had claimed that Jack was "not fit, fit, to play a high-intensity game" after the lengthy layoff through injury. But Carver insists the comments show a united from between the two parties - as he defended the decision to call-up Jack for the tournament. Quizzed over the fitness of Jack - who is out of contract at Rangers this summer - Carver said: "Ryan looks great.

"I know there have been one or two things said, but Ryan has been fit for a few weeks now. I think both Steve and the Rangers manager were trying to say the same thing.

"I know Jacko had a few behind closer door games for the under-23s, so he has had some game time. He deserves to be with us."
