Ryan Garcia reveals his pound-for-pound list including Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford

Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez has been named the best pound-for-pound boxer on the planet by Ryan Garcia.

The American is due to face Ghana’s Emmanuel Tagoe on Saturday night in San Antonio after splitting with previous trainer Eddy Reynoso earlier this year.

It came after the Mexican made headlines last month when he accused his former protégé of slacking off during training.

But despite their rift, Garcia, 23, still sees Canelo Alvarez, 31, as today’s pound-for-pound number one.

The 23-year-old gave his props to the former four-weight world champion as he revealed his top four in the sport during an interview with DAZN.

Multiple-weight world champion in three weight classes Terence Crawford, 34, came in at second amid rumours that he could eventually face the winner of Errol Spence Jr‘s unification clash with Yordenis Ugas later this year.

He holds a record of 38-0 and is only one of six boxers in history to hold all four major world titles at the same time – WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO.

Nicaraguan legend Roman Gonzalez, 34, secured third place in Garcia’s rankings.

The South American, nicknamed ‘Chocolatito’, has won 51 of his 54 professional bouts and previously held the WBA and WBC super flyweight titles.

Garcia also fitted himself in at No4 on his list, even though he has not boxed since stopping Luke Campbell in January 2021.

But there is no room for defending world champions Devin Haney, also 23, or Australia’s George Kambosos Jr, 28.
