Ruud van Nistelrooy senses PSV 'advantage' as he pays Rangers a lofty compliment

PSV boss Ruud van Nistelrooy believes his side have a slight advantage going into next week's Champions League playoff second leg after a 2-2 draw with Rangers at Ibrox.

The Eredivise giants took the lead in the end-to-end encounter through Ibrahim Sangare before Rangers fought back with goals from Antonio Colak and Tom Lawrence either side of half time to go in front. However poor defending allowed Armando Obispo a late equaliser to keep the tie finely poised.

Van Nistelrooy 's men had their spells of dominance in the tie and with not many sides coming to Ibrox and leaving with anything, the Dutch legend reckons his side might have done enough as the duo prepare to meet at the Phillips Stadium next Wednesday. He told BT Sport: "I think so, there's a slight advantage. But you could say today as well that it's so balanced between both teams. They are so balanced.

"Hopefully our fans can lift us just that little bit."

Asked what he said at half time after PSV came out flying for the second half, Van Nistelrooy added: "We had to change a couple of things at half time. I think that worked out well because the players got higher up the pitch and got better pressure on Rangers build up play so we had more of the ball.

"I think the better of the chances were for us and in the end 2-2 was a fair result."
