Ruud Gullit tells Erling Haaland to sign for Man City over Manchester United
Erling Haaland has been told to snub Manchester United and sign for Manchester City or Liverpool.
Haaland's future has already been the subject of intense speculation over his next club, with an affordable release clause alerting Europe's biggest clubs to his availability this summer.
City and United are naturally part of that conversation, as are rivals Liverpool. Others like Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are also said to be interested.
With the January transfer window now shut, the talk of Haaland's next club is bound to increase even more, and former Netherlands international Ruud Gullit has told him to limit his choices to three clubs - including City.
Advising Haaland not to join United, Gullit told Bild: "I see him in England but I don’t think he goes to Manchester United.
"City would be good for him because of Pep Guardiola. But Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool would also be great.
“What Jurgen has done with this club is unbelievable. You just have to love him and he’s always hungry. That suits Haaland.
"In Spain only Real is an option. These are the three clubs that will be in the running for Erling.”
Meanwhile, Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc has not ruled out trying to keep Haaland at the Westfalonstadion.
“Erling is still very young and his development is not yet complete," he told Kicker.
"And we are a very good club for shaping developments in a positive way. At some point, there will be a decision.”
