Rutherglen Glencairn reward players after fine season

Rutherglen Glencairn have crowned their Player of the Year winners after holding an awards night in the Glencairn Venue last Saturday.

Player of the Year was midfielder Allan Woodhouse, with forward Roan Fitzpatrick picking up Players’ Player and Website Player of the Year.

Midfielder Sean McGuire was Management Player of the Year, while striker Ryan McManus picked up top goal-scorer, having netted 18 times.

At under-21 level, Kyle McAdam was Player of the Year, Jamie Kane was Players’ Player of the Year and Ben Kane Young Player of the Year.

Top goal-scorer was Thomas Reid, while Most Improved Player was Isaac Frain.

Glens gaffer Joe Pryce said:” It was a good night, it was good to get everybody together, although there were a few on holiday. Our under-21s were in as well, and it was important to get the whole club in together.

“They were well deserved. Roan has had an excellent season, Sean picked up the management player of the year and his all-round game is improving. The older he gets, the better he gets, and he has been a fantastic servant to the club.

“Woody, in his first year, has done really well, made that position his own, he has been a terrific asset to us.

“Ryan got 18 goals this year, he missed a fair chunk of the season through injury and had a family holiday in America, which meant he missed another two or three games. If he had a full season here he would have got over the 20-goal mark again.

“We’re delighted that all four players are staying with us this season, as well as the majority of the group, and it was important to get the under-21s involved as well.”
