Ruben Dias could be about to give Josko Gvardiol what he wants at Man City

Ruben Dias is an imperious centre-back. But when you're usually faultless it becomes incredibly glaring when cracks begin to show.

Dias is incredibly important to Manchester City. His return from injury last season directly correlated with the start of the unbeaten run that secured the Premier League title over Arsenal. If not for Dias, the Blues likely would not have won the treble.

But past success does not guarantee future success and nor does it earn you an unquestioned spot in Pep Guardiola's side. Just ask Aymeric Laporte. Quality cannot be forgotten but form must be taken into account and Dias has been far off his lofty high standard in recent weeks.

Dias picked up a stupid booking early in the half which meant he couldn't dive in to try and prevent the German side's second goal, putting them two ahead. The Portuguese was lucky not to be shown a second yellow later in the half and was then hooked at half-time to ensure he didn't.

"Mistakes, I have the feeling we were so anxious, the first yellow card from Ruben isn't necessary with the head and feet here," Guardiola said. "This action, what happen? If you dont win the duel, he controls the ball but you are there, have to avoid it. You have to get better. Today we were lucky."
