Ruben Amorim might be forced to answer an awkward £60m question at Manchester United this week

Sunday's trip to Bournemouth could be viewed as an inconvenience given what will follow just four days later.

Manchester United travel to the south coast knowing their main aim is to avoid picking up any injuries ahead of Thursday's mammoth Europa League semi-final first leg in Bilbao. That being said, it also offers Ruben Amorim's side the chance to build some momentum ahead of the game and will allow players like Harry Maguire and Casemiro, both unused substitutes against Wolves, the chance of a run-out to avoid going two weeks without playing.

Alejandro Garnacho played the full 90 minutes of the turgid defeat to Wolves last weekend and it might be sensible for Amorim to offer the youngster a spell out of the side ahead of United's biggest game in years.

Garnacho has featured in every United game this season bar the Manchester derby he was dropped for, making 51 appearances across all competitions. Granted, at just 20 he has the energy needed to play so regularly, but giving him a spell away from the limelight could be just as beneficial as the physical gains from not starting this weekend.

The Argentina international hasn't been at his best in recent months and he missed a glorious opportunity to make it 3-0 against Lyon and save us from the agony that followed.

Though Joshua Zirkzee's season-ending injury and Amad's absence have trimmed United's options to replace Garnacho in one of the two No.10 roles, they still have plenty of alternatives in Bruno Fernandes, Christian Eriksen, Kobbie Mainoo and Mason Mount. But the latter can't seem to get a look-in when it comes to Amorim naming his starting XI.

Since returning from his latest injury, Mount has made six appearances for United and all have come from the bench.
