RTÉ Sport Awards Manager of the Year 2024 nominees revealed

Ahead of the RTÉ Sport Awards 2024 eight nominees have been revealed for the RTÉ Sport Manager of the Year.

All-Ireland winners Kieran McGeeney, Brian Lohan, Ger Manley and joint managers Declan Quill and Darragh Long have been named alongside Ireland rugby boss Andy Farrell, racing trainers Willie Mullins and Aidan O'Brien and Shelbourne manager Damien Duff.

Joanne Cantwell, Darragh Maloney and Jacqui Hurley will present the RTÉ Sport Awards 2024 from Studio 4 in RTÉ on Sunday, 15 December.

The awards being handed out on the night in front of an audience of Irish sports stars include RTÉ Sport Sportsperson of the Year, RTÉ Sport Team of the Year, RTÉ Sport Manager of the Year and RTÉ Sport Young Sportsperson of the Year.


ANDY FARRELL – IRISH RUGBY

The winner of the 2023 accolade led Ireland to back-to-back Six Nations titles in March this year. The Englishman has recently been named head coach for the 2025 Lions tour.

KIERAN MCGEENEY – ARMAGH FOOTBALL

Guided the Orchard County to their first Sam Maguire in 22 years, beating Galway by one point in what was only their second ever All-Ireland win. His side were the runners-up in the Ulster Senior Football final, losing out on penalties.

BRIAN LOHAN – CLARE HURLING

The Shannon man led Clare to All-Ireland glory beating Kilkenny in the final, giving the banner County their first Liam McCarthy win in 11-years.

WILLIE MULLINS – CHAMPION TRAINER

The first champion trainer both sides of the Irish Sea since Vincent O'Brien in 1954. Record-breaking number of Grade One wins in a year, including eight at Cheltenham, where he set a record 100 wins on the second day. He also picked up the Aintree Grand National with I Am Maximus.
