RTÉ GAA Podcast: Maher and Duignan on Limerick three-in-a-row

Limerick entered the history books by becoming only the fourth county to achieve a three-in-a-row of All-Ireland hurling titles - Brendan Maher and Michael Duignan join Mikey Stafford and Rory O'Neill to look back on their fabulous win over Kilkenny.

The majesty of Gearóid Hegarty's performance is examined - the rangy wing-forward hitting 1-05 from play and getting through a mountain of work. Michael and Brendan explain the importance of the Limerick half-forward line to everything they do.

There is an appreciation of Kilkenny's performance in defeat - the courage and skill on display as they never gave up was a joy to behold.

But Limerick are the dominant force in hurling and Brendan and Michael discuss how this occurred - from the funding of JP McManus to the coaching at academy level and expertise of the likes of Caroline Currid and Paul Kinnerk.

But for Brendan it is the collective spirit and camaraderie that makes them stand out.

However, according to one player who spoke to Brendan, it's all down to possession games and shuttle runs.
