Roy Keane questions commitment of Manchester United midfielders

Roy Keane questioned the mindsets of Nemanja Matic and Paul Pogba ahead of Manchester United's clash with Liverpool, with both midfielders set to leave in the summer.

United were chasing shadows for much of the match and ended up on the end of another hammering at Anfield. However, their task had been made all the more difficult by the fact that Ralf Rangnick was without six key players with Cristiano Ronaldo, Fred, Scott McTominay, Raphael Varane, Luke Shaw and Edinson Cavani unavailable.

The absence of the midfield engine room in McTominay and Fred saw Matic and Pogba start in the middle of the park as United lined up in a 5-3-2 formation. Both players will likely depart the club in the summer with Matic already announcing that he will leave and Pogba will almost certainly follow him through the door when his contract expires.

With summer moves on the horizon for both players, former United captain Keane has questioned whether the pair would have the right mentality for the game.

"We look at (Nemanja) Matic tonight, he has a big job tonight, he is an experienced player," Keane said on Sky Sports. "He came out and said the other night with a statement that he is going to leave Manchester United, so he is leaving the club in six weeks so all we are asking him to do is put his body on the line, but I just wonder where his mindset is because he is leaving the club.

"He's playing with Pogba, big role in the middle of the park, every chance Pogba will be leaving the football club in the summer, just reflects where Manchester United are with the contracts, decision-making, them two will have a big job to do in front of the back three or five.
