Roy Keane makes Manchester United top four prediction in Arsenal dig

Roy Keane has predicted that Arsenal will struggle to earn a top four spot this season due to Manchester United’s increased quality.

The Gunners missed out on a Champions League spot earlier this year with a series of slip-ups during the run-in. They finished 11 points ahead of sixth-placed United but both will play Europa League football next season.

Many have been impressed by Erik ten Hag’s work so far at Old Trafford and believe he has set himself up well to challenge for a top four place this term. The additions of Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez have been commended, as has his tactical approach.

Arsenal have also strengthened, notably bringing in Gabriel Jesus and Olekasandr Zinchenko from Manchester City. However, Keane does not fancy their chances of finishing in the top four due to United’s progression and Tottenham’s threat.

Speaking to Sky Bet, he said: “I think this (last season) was their opportunity. They blew it, they got into a great position, four, five games to go in the season you think they’re in pole position and they blew it. They couldn’t get over the line.

“You wouldn’t be putting any bets on Arsenal to finish top four next season because the other teams, Man United will get better, you’d have thought. Tottenham will be stronger. You can’t see it (a top four finish) - big set-back.”
