Roy Keane keen on Hibs manager job as Manchester United icon 'discusses vacancy with friends'

Football icon Roy Keane is reportedly interested in the vacant Hibs head coach vacancy.

The Irishman last managed in 2011 with Ipswich Town and his last coaching job was as Nottingham Forest assistant in 2019.

He has made himself known as one of the Premier League's most renowned pundits with his no-nonsense assessments, particularly of former club Manchester United.

But a desire to return to the frontline has emerged and was recently in talks with Sunderland over their managerial vacancy before Alex Neil got the job.

He has interviewed for a host of jobs including with former Celtic during their search for new managers in recent years.

The Man United legend previously managed in Wearside for two years before leaving in 2008.

Hibs are hunting a new boss - preferably one with experience according to chairman Ron Gordon - after Shaun Maloney was axed just 120 days into his tenure at Easter Road after a disastrous 2022 so far culminated in a bottom six finish.

Keane has, according to the Times, spoken with friends about a first foray into Scottish football since 2006 and his short stint at Celtic.

David Gray is currently Hibs caretaker and they won 1-0 in his first Premiership game in charge against St Mirren on Saturday.
