Rotherham United considering transfer swoop

The Huddersfield Town loanee was withdrawn during the Millers’ recent 2-0 victory over Crewe Alexandra and is due to have a scan today to provide clarity on the severeness of the injury.

This has left Rotherham slightly short in a key area of their squad but at the same time they do arguably have enough options to cope should Edmonds-Green be ruled out for a lengthy period.

Now Paul Warne has had his say on a potential deadline day addition, as he stated the following recently:

“I might need another defensive player, although I have got Joe Mattock and Tolaji Bola, neither of whom made the squad today, plus Angus MacDonald is coming back.”

The Millers are also said to be in the market for a new attacking player, with Warne stating after the win over Crewe that a deal was done.

It is said that the player in question is coming to the end of a spell out injured and may not be immediately available for selection.

The Verdict

It may be too late for Rotherham to make the move they want as the hours are getting shorter and shorter as we tick down towards the deadline.

As Warne rightly says, they do have the cover to cope with Edmonds-Green being absent, so it seems more likely that he will stick with what he has for now.

There is a chance that some options could come to the fore late on today but for now it seems more likely that the club will hold firm instead of dipping into the market.

On the flip side, it will be interesting to see what attacking player they have coming in imminently.
