Rory McKenzie pens new Kilmarnock contract as he talks up 'no-brainer' decision to stay
Rory McKenzie insists it was a no-brainer to sign a new deal at Kilmarnock.
The Rugby Park hero has extended his lengthy association with the club after penning a fresh one-year contract. McKenzie has been in the Killie top-team set-up since 2011 having graduated through the club’s youth academy. Barring a short loan spell to Brechin as a kid, the 30-year-old has played all of his career with the Ayrshire outfit.
McKenzie, who has made 394 appearances for Killie, has expressed a wish to finish his playing career with the club and had no hesitation in agreeing to stay part of Derek McInnes’ unit to add another chapter. He said: “I am delighted to extend my stay at Kilmarnock, signing a new deal was a no-brainer for me. This has been a great season so far, hopefully we can make it one to remember for everyone involved with the club.”
McKenzie has had a big impact since the turn of the year as McInnes’ men have moved to the brink of sealing a spot in the top-six of the Premiership and chase a European place.
McInnes said: “We are delighted that Rory has signed a new deal, he is such a valued member of this squad and brings so much to the club. He has a big part to play here, and I know that he can be so influential for us this season and beyond.”
