Rory Delap: Non-League player channels inner ex-Stoke man with crazy throw-in technique
Rory Delap’s throw-ins are legendary.
To say that the Englishman had a talent for throwing the ball would be an understatement. He could throw it a mile.
Stoke City scored so many goals from Delap’s throw-ins.
The midfielder would launch a ball into the box and the likes of Robert Huth and Ryan Shawcross would get on the end of them.
What made Delap’s throw-ins so special is that they were flat in trajectory. They roared into the box like a laser and caused chaos.
Delap hung up his boots in 2013 and there hasn’t been anyone that can take a throw-in quite like him. Until now.
YouTuber Smiv recently visited Saffron Walden Town where he witnessed their 2-0 victory over Hoddesdon Town in the Essex Senior League.
Smiv took footage of the game and he captured Gavin Cockman doing his best Rory Delap impression.
And we have to say, it’s a very good impression.
Unlike Delap, though, Cockman refused to take a run up. Instead, the Saffron Walden Town ace stood at the byline, bent as far back as he could, and then launched the ball towards the goal.
The ball came out like an arrow and into the six-yard box. On this occasion, the ball was headed away. Watch the video of Cockman’s throw-in technique below…
What on earth is that throw??
