Ronan Keating's brother Ciaran named as man killed in horror car crash

Ronan Keating's older brother Ciaran has been named locally as the victim of a fatal crash in Country Mayo, Ireland.

The Boyzone singer's sibling is said to have suffered fatal injuries in the two-car crash near Swinford on Saturday afternoon, the Irish Mirror reports.

Ciaran Keating, who is in his 50s, is believed to have been travelling with his wife to watch their son Ruairi play for Cork City FC in an evening Premier Division League of Ireland clash with Sligo Rovers.

His wife Ann Marie, a secondary school teacher, was taken to Mayo University Hospital for treatment for injuries which are understood not to be life-threatening. The male driver of the second vehicle is receiving treatment in hospital for serious injuries, the Irish Mirror reports.

Ciaran Keating has been named locally in Westport, where he lived. Christy Hyland, an Independent member of Mayo County Council, said: “Our sympathy goes out to all the Keating family. Ciaran’s death is truly shocking”.

Ronan is the youngest of five siblings. He has a sister named Linda and two other brothers, Gerard and Gary.

The Irish singer appeared in the pre-recorded final of The Voice Kids on Saturday evening.

It is understood a technical examination of the crash scene and the vehicles involved has been conducted by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Police in Ireland are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Swinford Garda Station on (094) 925 2990, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
