Ronaldo, Lewandowski, Jota: Who's the best striker in the world?

Is Robert Lewandowski the best player in the world right now?

Well, in terms of goalscoring alone, the Bayern Munich superstar has been out on his own in recent years.

In 2021/22, Lewandowski’s numbers are absolutely frightening. Thirty games across all competitions at club level have yielded an astonishing 37 goals – 26 of them coming in just 22 Bundesliga outings.

The two-time FIFA Men’s Player of the Year winner is so far ahead of the rest in his position right now and it’s why FourFourTwo have ranked him as the finest striker on the planet.

That was always going to be the case and if that comes as something of a shock, you clearly haven’t watched enough football in recent years.

So, the big question is; who’re the other nine strikers on their list and how are they ordered?

Well, let’s take a look…

10. Lautaro Martinez (Inter Milan)

9. Romelu Lukaku (Chelsea)

8. Patrik Schick (Bayer Leverkusen)

7. Diogo Jota (Liverpool)

6. Cristiano Ronaldo (Manchester United)

5. Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur)

4. Kylian Mbappe (Paris Saint-Germain)

3. Karim Benzema (Real Madrid)

2. Erling Braut Haaland (Borussia Dortmund)

Despite a very tough start to 2022, Ronaldo still takes sixth spot ahead of Jota – who’s been on fire for Liverpool this year.

Kane’s position ahead of them both is mighty interesting, as the Spurs striker has scored just five Premier League goals in 2021/22 and he’s been fit for the majority of the campaign.

We all know he’s world-class, but is Kane better than Jota right now? In our opinion, absolutely not and the same can be said about Schick, who’s scored 19 goals in 19 Bundesliga games so far this season.

We can’t criticise either the players selected for the top four or how they’ve been ordered, though.

Haaland
