Ronaldo and Van de Beek to start - the Manchester United line-up fans want to see vs Brentford

Manchester United fans want to see wholesale changes to their team's starting line-up for the trip to Brentford this evening.

Erik ten Hag got off to the worst possible start as United boss last Sunday as his side fell to a 2-1 defeat at home to Brighton. Pascal Gross bagged a first half brace for the Seagulls as familiar weaknesses reared their heads in the first fixture of the campaign.

Alexis Mac Allister's own goal in the second 45 brought the Reds back into the game but it was the south coast side who would leave the Theatre of Dreams with maximum points. Following an underwhelming start to the Premier League season, supporters would opt to make plenty of changes to the United side this afternoon.

In goal, David de Gea would keep his place with Diogo Dalot and Lisandro Martinez also featuring. However, club captain Harry Maguire would be dropped from the starting XI to be replaced by Raphael Varane.

Tyrell Malacia made a brief cameo appearance in the defeat to Brighton but he is preferred at left-back to Luke Shaw. United fans would then look to re-jig the midfield with Christian Eriksen dropping into a deeper role following the false nine experiment last weekend.

He would be joined by Donny van de Beek and Bruno Fernandes, ensuring that both Fred and Scott McTominay are dropped from the starting line-up. Eriksen played in the false nine role due to Cristiano Ronaldo's lack of match fitness but Reds fans are hoping he will be fit enough to lead the line today.

Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford also retain their places despite the latter's links with a move to PSG this week. You can follow all the action from the Brentford Community Stadium on the MEN Sport
