Ronald Araujo: Barcelona star showed pure class by dodging club's badge v Elche

Ronald Araujo is fast becoming one of the best defenders in world football.

At the age of just 23, the Uruguayan is a regular in Barcelona‘s starting XI and it’s hard to pinpoint a clear weakness in his game.

Araujo is big, strong, lightning-quick, reads the game brilliantly from a defensive standpoint and is capable of playing in more than one position to a very high standard.

The former Boston River man is a centre-back by trade, but also excels when deployed as a right-back by manager Xavi Hernandez.

Araujo is on the verge of becoming a world-class operator and he’s already a hugely popular figure among the Barcelona fanbase.

And the adoration from Cules towards Araujo was further increased after the player’s gesture during the team’s 3-0 win over Elche in La Liga on Saturday.

At the very end of the first half, when Barcelona were 2-0 up and cruising against 10 men thanks to goals from Robert Lewandowski and Memphis Depay, Araujo showed just how much he loves the Blaugrana.

The defender had to chase the ball down the touchline and as he was doing so, made sure to avoid running over the Barcelona crest etched into the grass.

Now that’s what you call respect for your employers…
