Romeo Beckham registers hat-trick of assists as he eyes Inter Miami breakthrough

Romeo Beckham stepped out of his fathers shadow on Tuesday night by bagging a hat-trick of assists for Inter Miami's reserve team as he continues to try and make the grade in MLS.

Beckham junior - who is the son of Manchester United and England icon David - penned his first senior contract with Fort Lauderdale back in September and is bidding to rise through the ranks. Beckham has also featured for Inter Miami's reserve team in the MLSNEXTPRO league.

And the 19-year-old certainly made his mark in some style with a performance that Beckham senior would have been proud of. Beckham bagged a trio of assists at the DRV PNK Stadium as Inter Miami CF II fought back against Philadelphia Union II to snatch a 3-3 draw from the jaws of defeat.

Beckham's team had found themselves 2-0 down before the youngster teed up Benjamin Cremaschi and Shanyder Borgelin to restore parity. And after falling behind again, Beckham whipped a free-kick that was stabbed home by Borgelin to save the game for Inter in the dying moments.

Beckham spent time on Arsenal's books as a youngster - along with his brothers, Brooklyn and Cruz - before he signing on in America. in a bid to make it as a pro. The teenager made a handful of appearances for Fort Lauderdale last year and plays on the right-ring - just like his dad. But Beckham senior was quick to quash any suggestion that his son could be given any easy ride just because of who he is.

That was revealed by Phil Neville, who spoke after Beckham inked his first-ever deal. Neville - who played alongside Beckham senior for Manchester United and England - was appointed as Inter Miami's head coach back in January 2021.
