Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku has been linked with a return to Inter Milan. The Blues forward struggled in his first full season since moving back to Stamford Bridge for around £97.5m, scoring just eight Premier League goals in the process.
The Nerazzurri's financial situation facilitated the deal to Chelsea, and it was fairly evident that Lukaku would have remained in Italy had he been offered a new deal.
In what was an extremely controversial interview in December - and one that saw Lukaku dropped by Thomas Tuchel for a small period of time - the Belgian said he plans to make a move back to the Serie A one day.
He told Sky Sports: "I really hope with all my heart to be able to return to Inter one day and not at the end of my career. I would like to return when I am still at high levels to try to win even more with the Nerazzurri shirt."
Lukaku said of his position at Chelsea: "However, I cannot say that I am happy with the situation, this is normal. I think that Tuchel has chosen to play with another module, and I just have to not give up, continue to work and be a professional."
