Romelu Lukaku makes Cristiano Ronaldo claim after beating Man United forward to Serie A award

Romelu Lukaku and Cristiano Ronaldo went head-to-head in Serie A last season with the two global superstars competing as Inter Milan and Juventus fought it out for the Scudetto. They finished first and second in the scoring charts, Ronaldo winning with 29 goals while Lukaku bagged 24.

Lukaku has only scored five goals in 19 Premier League games this season and has found himself behind Kai Havertz in the Stamford Bridge pecking order. Ronaldo meanwhile has fared slightly better with 12 goals in 24 matches for United. After the award, Lukaku spoke about his pride of beating the man who recently became Fifa's all-time top goalscorer.

“I am really happy to be included in the Serie A top XI for last season. I want to thank all those who voted for me and the team that helped me a lot, the coach and his staff. It was the team’s achievement
