Roman Reigns: New update on star’s challenger for SummerSlam

Following the news that Roman Reigns has been removed from the Money in the Bank card, a new update has revealed the plans for Roman at SummerSlam.

There plans in place for Reigns to defend his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship at next month’s Money in the Bank premium live event, against Riddle. However, after the show was moved from the Allegiant Stadium to the smaller MGM Grand, Roman has been removed from the show. 

Now, according to David Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, WWE are not sure of doing Roman vs. Riddle at all. But if they do, it’s a match that will be on WWE TV rather than a premium live event show.

If he wrestles Riddle, it’ll be on TV, it won’t be on pay-per-view. At least that’s the plan right now. The plan is still Orton for July 30 (SummerSlam). Obviously they were building up the Riddle and Reigns match on Monday, so I’m presuming they’re gonna do it, but I was told it would not be pay-per-view match if they do it, and it’s not 100% that they will.

Orton is currently taking a break from WWE, but with SummerSlam set to take place at the Nissan Stadium in Nashville, the plan is still to headline the event with the big money match of Reigns vs Orton for the gold. 

Following that, Reigns is then expected to defend his belts against Drew McIntyre at September’s Clash at the Castle in Wales. McIntyre has already made that intention known on WWE TV, and it’s all but confirmed by WWE that will be the match to main event the historic UK show from Cardiff.
