Roma's Lorenzo Pellegrini went viral for late s***housery vs Sampdoria

Lorenzo Pellegrini has gone viral after channeling his inner-Jose Mourinho during Roma’s 1-0 win against Sampdoria on Sunday.

Pellegrini was replaced late on as Mourinho’s side continued their fine run of form – Roma have now gone nine games unbeaten in all competitions.

Mourinho’s debut season in charge of the Serie A club has been rather chaotic, but it will end on a high if he’s able to lead them to a top five finish or Europa League glory.

Their chances of finishing in the top five – and automatically qualifying for either the Europa League or Champions League – were boosted on Sunday thanks to Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s first-half goal.

“It was a difficult match, it’s tough to play here, Marco Giampaolo’s sides always have a clear philosophy,” Mourinho told DAZN afterwards, per Football Italia.

“The culture in Rome is that if you win the derby, you go into Paradise, if you lose it’s a total disaster, but we managed to keep our feet on the ground, focus on this game and get the victory.”

Mourinho was proud of his team’s performance, and he would have been very happy with Pellegrini’s actions when he was subbed off in injury time.

The Italian midfielder wasted time when he was brought off – removing his shin pads and even untying his shoe laces – so that he would earn a yellow card from the referee?

Why? Pellegrini wanted to get booked as he was one yellow away from a suspension.

Now, he will miss Roma’s game against Salernitana – who are bottom of the table and shouldn’t cause Mourinho’s side any problems – and will be back for the important game against Napoli.

Let’s be honest, it wouldn’t be a massive shock if Mourinho was behind Pellegrini’s intentional booking.
