Róisín Ní Riain fourth in 400m freestyle at World Para Swimming Championships

Róisín Ní Riain almost added a third gold to her medal haul at the World Para Swimming Championships in Madeira, finishing just outside the podium places in fourth in the final of the S13 400m freestyle.

Ní Riain clocked four minutes 42.94 seconds, with Italy's Gilli Carlotta finishing third.

Speaking afterwards, Ní Riain said: "I think this has definitely made me want it even more, it’s only two more years until Paris, you know it’s a short one so all I can really do is go back home, put in the work and see what the next year brings."

Still to come this evening are finals for Barry McClements and Nicole Turner for Team Ireland.

They compete in back-to-back races, with McClements going first at 7.22pm in the S9 100m B backstroke final, followed immediately by Turner in the SB6 100m breaststroke final.
