Rodrygo Goes: When Real Madrid ace silenced Niklas Sule on debut vs Bayern Munich

In 2018, Real Madrid decided to pay €45 million for 17-year-old wonderkid, Rodrygo Goes.

The youngster had already made the breakthrough at Santos and was regarded as one of the brightest talents in world football.

Real Madrid fans were made to wait a while to see Rodrygo in action for the club as he spent the 2018/19 season at Santos.

He finally made his debut for Los Blancos in the International Champions Cup in July 2019.

Real Madrid actually lost the game 3-1 but Rodrygo’s performance was a big plus.

The youngster impressed on his debut and he marked his first outing for the club with a stunning goal, silencing Niklas Sule in the process.

In the 84th minute, Real were given a free-kick roughly 20 yards out. Rodrygo fancied it.

A smiling Sule was positioned in the wall and appeared to shout “Try!” at the youngster.

Rodrygo took up the challenge and he proceeded to smash his effort beyond Ron-Thorben Hoffman and into the top corner.

That’s one way to silence a taunting opponent. As far as debut goals go, that’s one of the best from Rodrygo.

The Brazilian wheeled away in celebration but was quickly ushered back to the half-way line by his teammates so the game could restart.

Rodrygo recently reflected on his debut strike and the telling off he received from Marcelo and Nacho after the game.

He said on the Jota Jota podcast, per ManagingMadrid: “In my debut with Real Madrid, in pre-season, I scored a goal from a free-kick and celebrated. When I got to the dressing room, Marcelo and Nacho said to me: ‘if you’re losing and you celebrate, get the ball and get to the centre circle, you don’t celebrate it.”
