Rod Stewart warns Switzerland that Scotland will 'teach them a footballing lesson'

Switzerland have been told suffering Scotland "will teach them a footballing lesson" - by celebrity fan and rocker Rod Stewart.

Steve Clarke's men face a must-not-lose game against Murat Yakin's men, who kicked off their Euro 2024 Group A campaign with a 3-1 win over Hungary - 24 hours after Scotland were thrashed 5-1 by Germany in Munich in the opening game of the tournament.

The 79-year pop legend has been a long-term Scotland supporter, although he will miss the Euros because he is currently on tour. But he explained in an interview with a Swiss newspaper, he expects Clarke's side to claim their first win of the tournament. Stewart said: "My tip for the game is we will teach Switzerland a footballing lesson. It would be great for me to go to the game, but I'm on tour and will be watching the games there.

"The Scottish football team has a big place in my heart. Although my father is actually the only real Scot in my family. My mother, my siblings and I were all born in England. But because my father has such a strong connection to Scottish football, we're all rooting for the team.

"I now also have my own whisky, which is called Wolfies. I always had it in the back of my mind. A friend of mine, a huge supporter of Celtic, is an expert in whisky marketing. So we started this business together."
