Rod Stewart goads Rangers fans in bumper Hotline as Celtic diehard roars 'you ain't laughing now'

The Rangers fans might not want to talk about it, but Sir Rod Stewart did.

This old heart of his might have been broken last season but Rod was at Celtic Park on Wednesday and was still on a high when he contacted the Hotline to say: “What a night! They laughed when we brought in an Australian manager and four Japanese players. They are not laughing any more.”

His comment mirrored the delight of the Celtic support, but many insisted they weren’t getting carried away despite the sensational display that blew Rangers away and sent them to the top of the table.

Stefan Lomako, Whithorn, emailed: “It was a really good win for the Bhoys and blows open the title race but we must remain focussed as Rangers are still a very strong team and things can change in days. There’s a fair way to go but there’s also a terrific feeling around and confidence that there’s loads to look forward to.”

Eddie Easson, Ballingry, Fife said: “Big Ange gone by Christmas was quoted. Rangers won’t be beaten again this season, they wrote. Postecoglou and the board have gone about their business quietly, with the signings already proving their worth.

“Last night proved the distance Celtic have made up in a few months. You don’t win leagues in February but it sure feels good to be where we are.”

Stephen Mulhern, Dumbarton, emailed: “After witnessing an unbelievable performance that result doesn’t mean the league is won. But it puts Celtic in a position that they’ve not been in a long time. However it could be even this early that Ange Postecoglou has taken Celtic from second best to simply the best. A mention also to Joe Hart who is such a calming influence on the defence.”

Jack Armstrong, Bathgate, said: “Celtic had no Rogic, no Turnbull, no Kyogo.
