Robin van Persie: Arsenal fan Romesh Ranganathan roasted Dutchman on TV in 2019

Robin van Persie was on his way to legendary status at Arsenal.

The Dutch striker joined the Gunners when he was just 20 years old in 2004.

He enjoyed incredible individual success during his stay in north London.

Van Persie scored 123 times in 278 games as he emerged into one of the world’s best strikers.

However, despite his brilliance up front, he was unable to guide Arsenal to much silverware.

He won just two trophies during his stint with the club: The Community Shield in 2004 and the FA Cup in 2005.

Arsenal’s lack of success led Van Persie to pursue a move away in 2012.

A month after publicly revealing he would not sign a contract extension with the Gunners, he joined bitter rivals Manchester United in a £24m move.

The decision to join The Red Devils was understandably met with great anger from Arsenal fans.

Romesh Ranganathan, an English actor and comedian, was one Arsenal fan who lost his respect for the man he once regarded as a hero.

And he made his feelings very clear after coming face-to-face with Van Persie on live TV a few years’ back.

Ranganathan and Van Persie both appeared on the Sky programme ‘A League of Their Own’ in 2019.

Here’s @RomeshRanga speaking for every Arsenal fan after finding himself in the same room as Robin van Persie
