Robby McCrorie 'set' to quit Rangers as promising star left 'disillusioned' by Ibrox keeper situation

Keeper Robby McCrorie is preparing to quit Rangers this summer, according to a report.

The Ibrox academy graduate has entered the final year of his contract but looks set to remain third-choice next season after Allan McGregor signed up for another year. The Glasgow Times report McCrorie, 24, has decided he has "no option" but to leave his boyhood club with both McGregor and Jon McLaughlin remaining ahead of him in the pecking order.

It's said the shot-stopper was given assurances over his place in Giovanni van Bronckhorst 's ranks but has been left "disillusioned" by the goalkeeping situation at the club. Rangers could now face a decision over selling McCrorie or risk losing him for free when his deal expires next summer.

The keeper has been linked with a surprise move to Manchester United and it's claimed a number of other English clubs are taking a keen interest in him.

McCrorie has made only two first team appearances - a Europa League outing against Alashkert and an impressive derby performance in victory over Celtic with the Rangers squad decimated by Covid-19 cases last season.

He also has four loan spells under his belt, spending time with Berwick Rangers, Greenock Morton, Queen of the South and Livingston.

Earlier in June, McCrorie was called up to the senior Scotland squad for the first time.
