Robbie Savage teases Celtic 'scraped' past Rangers but reckons Chris Sutton has job lined up at de facto champions

Robbie Savage has quipped Rangers made Celtic do it the hard way for their derby day delight - but Chris Sutton reckons it was another afternoon of those in blue coming up short.

A Kyogo double and a Jota strike sealed three points for the Hoops over their rivals at Parkhead in a 3-2 thriller, putting them 12 points clear at the top of the league. With seven games to go and just four points dropped all term, it likely makes them champions in waiting but on their 5Live show, pundit Savage was quick to tease former Celtic striker Sutton about the big day in Glasgow's east-end.

Savage started by asking Record Sport's columnist about the post-match jubilation and whether it was all a bit much: "I have got to say Chris, you hammer Rangers when they win games and celebrate, there was a lap of honour, there was chest-pumping, they scraped past Rangers today!"

But the former striker was in no mood to play around with his response: "It is the biggest derby in world football and I don't know what your biggest derby is, Crewe vs Port Vale, that is probably the biggest derby you played in. If you are a Celtic fan you are delighted with that win."

The pair later returned to the topic later and Savage admitted the title race was done, with Celtic festivities involving Sutton already in the works: "It is over. The open top bus is booked and I think you (Sutton) will be driving!"

While not confirming whether or not he would be behind the wheel for the champions elect, the Celtic hero did admit. He added: "This was a must win for Rangers, they had to win the game.
