Rob Dorsett delivers update as funding deadline passes for Derby County
Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett has revealed that the EFL currently has no plans to expel Derby County from the League, despite the club’s administrators passing the deadline to prove funds without doing so.
The Rams’ plight continues with them given an extension to show proof of funds until the end of February earlier on in the year.
However, that deadline passed yesterday with still no proof given, as the administrators continue to search for new buyers of the club.
That all said, though, the EFL are currently not planning on throwing the club out of the League, with Dorsett giving this update on Twitter:
EFL has no plans to expel #dcfc from League despite administrators missing yesterday's deadline to prove funding. Admins are still assessing bids, not said anything for 10days.
I’ve been told Derby have cash for player wages and club expenses for a few weeks, but not beyond that.

The Verdict
Derby fans will have really hoped that something would have been sorted by now but, of course, that is not the case.
By the sounds of things, too, the next few weeks could be make or break for the club with finances only able to stretch for a little longer.
On the pitch, too, the club faces a tense time with a couple of losses creeping in of late to make their survival bid that bit tougher in the Championship.
Big games with Cardiff and Barnsley are on the agenda this week, though, and they’ll be looking for two massive victories.
