Rob Cross ‘devastated’ by Premier League omission: ‘I’m gutted’

Rob Cross admits he is devastated after being left out of this year’s Premier League line-up, saying it is a ‘ruthless decision-making process’ which could be fairer.

Cross was unfortunate to be left out of the eight-man field for the tournament this season after winning the European Championship in October.

While there was no set criteria for the Premier League picks, it had widely been considered that winning a major TV title would see you make the field.

Cross says that is what he had assumed and he has been stunned to miss out, while the likes of Gary Anderson and Michael Smith made the field without winning a big title and Joe Cullen got in at the last minute by claiming the non-ranking Masters trophy on Sunday.

‘Obviously, I’m gutted and devastated, whichever word you want to use,’ Cross told Oche180.com.

‘I thought the criteria for the Premier League was a major TV tournament winner gets a place. I was wrong.
