Roar land Japanese striker on loan

Brisbane Roar have returned to Japan in their quest for more A-League Men goals, signing striker Ryo Wada on loan from top-flight side Sagan Tosu.

Wada, 26, joins for the remainder of the ALM campaign and is hoping to emulate the feats of young gun Riku Danzaki with the Roar.

Danzaki was Brisbane's top scorer last season with nine goals in 26 appearances in a successful loan stint from Consadole Sapporo.

Wada, who struggled to make an impact in his maiden J1 League season with Sagan Tosu last year making just a handful of cup appearances, is hoping to reignite his career in Australia.

"I am very excited," Wada said.

"I have heard the fans are really warm, really passionate.

"I think by joining the team I will become a better player."

Wada's breakout season was in 2018 when he scored seven goals to help FC Ryukyu to the J3 League title and promotion.

Roar coach Warren Moon welcomed Wada's arrival with his team 10th on the ladder -- having won just two of nine games and netting eight goals.

"He gives us another option in the final third," Moon said.

"It is particularly pleasing for us as a club to continue expanding our presence in the Japanese and Asian markets as we know there are plenty of quality players in those regions."
