Road closed after elderly driver suffers 'life threatening injuries' - live updates

A road in Maesteg has been closed after an elderly driver suffered "life threatening injuries" in a crash. The incident was reported on Old Bridgend Road on Wednesday (August 3).

A statement from South Wales Police said: "Emergency services are in attendance at a road traffic collision which was reported shortly before 10am today.

"The collision happened when a blue Renault Clio collided with a parked car. The elderly driver of the Clio has suffered life threatening injuries and is being taken by ambulance to the University Hospital of Wales.

"Old Bridgend Road between the Premier Store and Duke Street will be closed both directions while investigations into the collision are completed."
