River Island's £48 handbag 'perfect' for work and holidays takes inspiration from £2,950 Prada

While we're still only in August, many fashion fans will already be looking ahead and planning their upcoming wardrobe for the cooler weather. Last year, cherry red was one of the most popular colours during the autumn and winter season and it looks like the trendy hue is well and truly here to stay.

We've started to see the shade trickle in on the high street, with many retailers stocking both clothes and accessories in cherry red. At River Island, we've spotted a stunning red patent bag that is almost guaranteed to sell out.

The retailer's Red Patent Hardware Tote Bag comes in at £48 but we think it looks far more expensive. In fact, it bears a striking resemblance to the Galleria Patent Leather Tote Bag by Prada, which would set you back a cool £3,000.

The River Island bag is a whopping £2,952 cheaper than the designer version, making it a great budget-friendly alternative. Of course, there are slight differences between the two bags, one being that the £48 tote is slightly larger than Prada's, but both have been constructed in the timeless cherry red colourway and tote design.
