Rio Ferdinand uses Man City star to highlight Alejandro Garnacho's next challenge at Man United

Rio Ferdinand has challenged Alejandro Garnacho to continue reinventing himself as he looks to push on with his development at Manchester United.

The Argentine has enjoyed a breakthrough season at Old Trafford and made a timely return from injury against Wolves, scoring the second goal in a 2-0 win. Garnacho has committed his long-term future to the club and supporters are excited about his potential.

Ferdinand admires Garnacho's bullish attitude and wants him to retain the arrogance on the field that makes him so dangerous. However, the United great wants to see the 18-year-old continue to mix up his game.

He used Manchester City winger Riyad Mahrez as a good example of an unpredictable player because of his ability to take defenders on in different ways. Ferdinand believes that is the next challenge for Garnacho to ensure he doesn't stagnate.

"Do you know what he is?" Ferdinand told FIVE. "He is a player that has come in and shows no respect for people.

"He doesn't look at reputations and thinks 'I better be on my game today'. I don't think he looks at the teamsheet. I wouldn't be surprised if he goes out there and he doesn't know who the right-back is today.

"I don't think he respects them. 'I am this good and you have to stop me, work me out, come on'.

"Next season will be the telling point because they all know you, they know what you do, have you got a new trick? It's what I want to see from [Bukayo] Saka next year, I love Saka.

"He doesn't go on the outside anymore, that's why someone like Mahrez is a problem because if you look at his data, he has a balance between right and left. You don't know
