Rio Ferdinand reveals Sir Alex Ferguson's big transfer regret at Manchester United

Former centre-back Rio Ferdinand has detailed how he believes Sir Alex Ferguson always regretted not being able to bring Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema to Manchester United.

Ferdinand made the admission after Benzema netted his 12th Champions League goal of the season in Madrid's 3-2 defeat to Chelsea in the second-leg of quarter-final showdown on Tuesday. The Frenchman netted a hat-trick in the first-leg at Stamford Bridge last week, meaning that he has now scored seven goals in his last three Champions League outings. Despite recently turning 34, he has been outstanding for Madrid this season, notching 38 goals in 38 appearances.
