Rio Ferdinand literally couldn’t believe Old Trafford leaks and questioned if it was AI

Manchester United icon Rio Ferdinand was so gobsmacked by the leaks at Old Trafford he thought it was Artificial Intelligence trickery.

Despite a more spirited display from Erik ten Hag's team compared to their 4-0 defeat at Crystal Palace, United's 1-0 loss to Arsenal on Sunday still left supporters disheartened. As the match drew to a close, significant leaks in Old Trafford's roof and walls led to water cascading down the steps and a torrent spilling from the stadium's upper levels.

Ferdinand, who clinched six Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy during his tenure with United, was one of many watching on who could not believe what they were seeing. The former England captain admitted when he first saw the clips, he thought it may have been an AI deep fake, reports the Mirror.

On his Vibe with Five podcast, Ferdinand said: "I thought it was a joke, I thought it was AI doing it's magic. Is that for real? That's unbelievable what I was witnessing there.

"It was only a little bit of rain as well. There wasn't even any big rain, it wasn't like what we saw in Dubai the other day."

Arsenal supporters were heard singing "Old Trafford is falling down" as water cascaded from the top of the stadium. It was a sight many believe encapsulates United's decline in comparison to their rivals.
