Rio Ferdinand delivers Ruben Neves transfer verdict with Wolves star linked to Man Utd

Former Man United and England defender Rio Ferdinand has praised Wolves star Ruben Neves.

Neves has been linked with a move to United for some time, with the general consensus that Ralf Rangnick's side need to strengthen their midfield.

The Portuguese midfielder has been a shining light for Wolves this season, alongside Joao Moutinho and Leander Dendoncker in midfield.

When asked about Neves on his show Vibe with Five, Ferdinand had kind works for Neves.

"I like him. He's fantastic, he keeps the ball as well as anyone. Really good footballer," Ferdinand said.

It was put to Ferdinand that Man United could have a midfield of Bruno Fernandes, Ruben Neves and Youri Tielemans next season. Ferdinand was not so keen.

"That wouldn't be my choice, I've got to be honest," he said.

"I like them, good players, but if you think that midfield there is getting you closer to the other teams (above Man United), I'd argue against it. Mobility wise, we would be lacking."

Neves, meanwhile, is focused on the task in hand at Wolves as the side look to build on Sunday's 2-1 win over Leicester City.

"We just want to go game by game, that’s our main goal," Neves said. "Our main target is to win every single game until the end.

"That’s why we’re working a lot. Doesn’t matter the opponent, doesn’t matter the stadium, we will try to win the game and that’s what we did today."
