Ruben Neves embodied prime Eric Cantona with his sublime chip vs Watford

Ruben Neves scored a delightful chip over Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster on Thursday night.

Completing a quartet of goals, the 24-year-old helped Wolves end a run of three consecutive losses in the Premier League with a 4-0 drubbing over the Hornets.

The win will also no doubt reignite their hopes of qualifying for European football at the end of the season, and Bruno Lage’s side certainly looked dangerous in front of goal throughout the match.

Raul Jimenez broke the deadlock firing in a cross from Hee-Chan Hwang after just 13 minutes.

And things subsequently went from bad to worse for Roy Hodgson’s side.

Midfielder Cucho Hernandez turned the ball into his own net just five minutes later, before Foster miss-kicked a clearance to Daniel Podence, who made no mistake in slotting the ball into the back of an open goal.

At 3-0, Wolves looked well in control of the match, with the Hornets offering very little to threaten the home side.

Yet, the Wanderers still attacked and it was a second-half goal from Neves that was by far the most impressive of the night.

While the Portuguese is no stranger to scoring spectacular goals, this could be up there as one of his best and is giving us major flashbacks of a goal once scored by Eric Cantona.

With Wolves on the counter, Rayan Ait Nouri swung a high cross over the six-yard box to Chiquinho, who headed the ball back to his compatriot, Neves.

Arriving to collect the ball on the edge of the penalty area, the 24-year-old takes a touch and sees Foster coming off his line.

Neves then pulls off the spectacular and clips a sublime chip over the goalkeeper into the top left-hand corner of the goal.
