Rio Ferdinand calls on Man United to take drastic measure with Ralf Rangnick before final game

Rio Ferdinand has suggested Manchester United shouldn’t allow Ralf Rangnick to conduct any more interviews or press conferences while manager of the club.

Rangnick’s reign as interim manager is set to come to an end soon, with just one game remaining for United this season. With Erik ten Hag set to arrive as the Reds’ new manager in the summer, the German will step back from the limelight at Old Trafford following the final fixture against Crystal Palace on May 22.

Before then though, Rangnick will have the opportunity to speak to the media a few more times, which could be bad news for his players and others at United. The 63-year-old has not shied away from speaking openly on the multitude of issues which have plagued the club during a terrible season.

The interim boss recently criticised the club’s recruitment policy, having bemoaned missing out on a number of potential targets during January, including Luis Diaz and Dusan Vlahovic, who are now thriving at Liverpool and Juventus respectively. While Rangnick’s comments may cause problems for those at United, many fans have welcomed his open approach to interviews.

Ferdinand though criticised the German on Saturday for airing the club’s “dirty laundry in public” while still manager. The former defender now feels the club may have to take drastic measures in order to silence Rangnick before the final game of the season.
