"Right now…" - Insider drops fresh internal claim on Antonio Conte's Tottenham future

Tottenham Hotspur are ‘reasonably confident’ that Antonio Conte will still be in charge next season despite fears that he will walk away if his ambitions are not met, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Conte was appointed as Spurs’ head coach last November, with the Italian replacing Nuno Espirito Santo after his woeful four-month reign at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium came to an end.

Conte may have penned a contract lasting until the end of next season, with the agreement offering the option of an extension, but there have been question marks over where his long-term future lies.

Fears over the 52-year-old potentially walking away from Tottenham have been heightened after French media outlet Le Parisien, via Get French Football News, revealed he has already told Paris Saint-Germain that he would be willing to head to the Ligue 1 giants on a two-year deal at the end of the campaign.

The report suggests Conte has reached out to PSG’s cash-rich owners with former Spurs chief Mauricio Pochettino set to be sacked.

RMC Sport have claimed Conte would be seeking a contract worth £25million in order to head to PSG, meaning they will have to nearly double his pay package in north London.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is reportedly irritated by continued speculation over Conte’s future and whether Pochettino could head in the opposite direction back to the Premier League side.
