‘Ridiculous’ - Pundit stunned after what he heard at Rangers

Rangers had a midweek to remember as they came from behind to secure their place in the Europa League semi-final with a sensational performance at Ibrox on Thursday night.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side had to come from a goal down after the first leg to get the better of Braga. His side got off to a perfect start as goals from James Tavernier at the start and end of the opening 45 minutes saw the Gers take a 2-0 lead into the interval, leading on aggregate 2-1.

Braga levelled the tie late on through Vitor Tormena to force extra time despite trailing on the night. Kemar Roofe was the hero at Ibrox, scoring after 101 minutes to send his side into the semi-final of the Europa League.

And the former Celtic ace, Tony Cascarino, was full of praise for the Rangers fans, having this to say for talkSPORT (via Daily Record):

“I know the two of them, Celtic and Rangers, when they play European football, the atmosphere is ridiculous. It felt like the radio was coming out at me with the atmosphere. I thought, ‘the lads are turning that up, aren’t they?’ What a night.

“This is happening at Parkhead as well so it’s the pair of them, what they give in atmosphere at stadiums is second to none.”

It was a huge effort from Van Bronckhorst’s side to overturn the first-leg deficit and to recover from the setbacks suffered during the 90 minutes. They looked to be heading through until a late goal forced extra time, but they responded in the best way possible.
