Ricky Hatton's boxing comeback off with Marco Antonio Barrera fight to be rescheduled

Ricky Hatton's boxing comeback is now off with the fight set to be rescheduled. It comes after the main event on the night between Hughie Fury - Tyson Fury's cousin - and Michael Hunter was cancelled with the former falling ill. The entire card has now been scrapped.

It is a a big blow for Fury and also Hatton. The Manchester legend has lost almost three stone in just two months in preparation for the fight and has even been mistaken for his own son, Campbell Hatton, during his training and weight loss transformation.

Hatton was due to right Mexican legend Marco Antonio Barrera and the contest will now be rescheduled. Hatton had insisted it is not the start of a real comeback and the fight at Manchester Arena will have no decision and neither man will ‘go for the kill’.

Hatton is fighting under a different promotion to Fury on the main event, with the former world champion likely looking to find a new date and venue for the bout as soon as possible.

On his weight loss transformation in preparation for the fight, Hatton told British Boxing TV : "I like pints of beer, it has been well known, but you can't do that. I think that is the main thing with the weight. If you go out and have pints seven days a week you won't be walking around with a six pack.

"I think it is just sensible, eating the right things small and often and regular workouts. Some days I have thought 'can I have a rest day?' and then I have thought I will take my foot down on the pace and go for a run to keep a sweat on.
