Rickelton heroics see MI Cape Town race to impressive bonus-point win over Durban's Super Giants

Ryan Rickelton once again starred up front as his quickfire half-century steered MI Cape Town to a bonus-point victory in their SA20 clash against Durban's Super Giants at Newlands on Saturday.

The hosts won by eight wickets to climb to second spot on the SA20 log, with two games to go before the play-offs.

Chasing a modest 150 to win under lights, Rickelton and Rassie van der Dussen quickly took control of the run chase as they put together a stunning 75-run opening stand to take the game away from the Durban side.

Captain Keshav Maharaj got the breakthrough as Van der Dussen got an inside edge onto his stumps and was bowled for an 18-ball 24.

Rickelton continued his love affair at Newlands as he brought up his second SA20 half-century of the season. The in-form 28-year-old gave the Newlands faithful a show as he smashed three fours and six sixes for a superb 63 off 41 balls.

Afghanistan batter Sediqullah Atal made a run-a-ball eight before he got a leading edge off his fellow countryman Noor Ahmad.

Dewald Brevis made use of his promotion to No 3 as he remained unbeaten on 26 off 16 balls.

However, it was all-rounder George Linde, who smashed Marcus Stonis for four sixes, for an impressive eight-ball 29 not out that secured MI Cape Town a bonus-point win.
