Rice and Barry added to Kilkenny backroom team
Former All-Ireland winners Michael Rice and Peter Barry are amongst those elevated to the Derek Lyng's Kilkenny backroom team ahead of the 2023 season.
Lyng, installed as manager after Brian Cody stepped down following a glittering 24-year-reign last month, has named four selectors altogether.
Rice and Barry join from the new manager's victorious Kilkenny U20 set-up, former Kilkenny minor Peter O'Donovan is added, while Conor Phelan is retailed from the Cody regime.
Mickey Comerford and John Murphy have been named as S&C coaches.
Rice won eight All-Ireland medals for Kilkenny between 2006 and 2015, two on the field of play in 2009 and 2011, while he missed out on the 2012 final through a serious hand injury.
Barry, now 47, was a central figure in the early years of the Cody regime, winning three All-Ireland titles at centre back in 2000, 2002 and 2003.
